Pharmacy professionals care for their communities every day. But many are quietly carrying a lot themselves. Recent research from MetLife shows that almost 80% of working Australians feel mentally strained sometimes or most of the time (1).
For many, that strain shows up as stress, anxiety, burnout, overwhelm or emotional fatigue. Women and carers are feeling it most often – and we know many of our members are balancing work, family and financial responsibilities all at once.
Mental strain doesn’t always mean a diagnosis. Sometimes it can show up as:
Difficulty sleeping
Low energy
Feeling constantly ‘on’
Irritability
Trouble concentrating
Feeling stretched too thin for too long.
People experience mental health challenges in different ways – and they need different kinds of support at different times. Some need clinical care. Others need practical, preventative support to help manage everyday pressure before it escalates.
How we’re helping
As part of your GuildSuper membership, you and your family* have access to MetLife 360Health, an expert-led wellbeing program that offers a range of services, including two mental health services.
The first is Mental Health Assist, designed for people who need clinical support, a review of a diagnosis, or help navigating treatment options.
The second is a new Coaching Program, which supports those experiencing everyday mental strain by providing practical, preventative support to help manage stress and build resilience. You can access both of these services at no extra cost.
Why early support matters
MetLife’s research shows that mental strain is affecting Australians at work. They found that, of those impacted by mental strain:
63% feel drained most of the time
52% feel distracted
46% feel overwhelmed with work
40% feel easily irritated by small problems
38% feel mentally checked out
At the same time, many people put off seeking support due to barriers like cost or embarrassment.
63% cite cost of consultations
34% mention stigma or embarrassment
30% struggle to find a knowledgeable healthcare provider
The Mental Wellness Coaching Program is designed to help remove those barriers and help you find a clearer path forward. It’s:
Included in your GuildSuper membership at no extra cost
Available to your children, partner, parents and parents-in-law, too
Completely private (your employer won’t know and neither will we)
Available virtually (camera optional)
Accessible without needing a referral or making a claim
You don’t need to wait until things feel unmanageable. You don’t need a diagnosis. And you don’t need to justify how you’re feeling.
Why use the Coaching Program?
The Coaching Program focuses on early, preventative support for managing day-to-day stress and burnout.
You’ll be connected with a qualified mental health professional through Teladoc Health within two business days. Together, you’ll choose up to three focus areas that reflect what you’d like support with, such as:
Rest & Recover – improving sleep, restoring energy and preventing burnout
Boundaries & Balance – managing workload, expectations and mental load
Building a healthy relationship with self – addressing unhelpful thinking patterns
Relationship resilience & connectedness – strengthening communication and support networks
Tolerating & transforming stress – building stability during uncertain times
You’ll then take part in three structured sessions focused on identifying your goals and developing practical strategies that fit your situation. After completing the program, you’ll receive a personalised report outlining your goals and suggested next steps. If you need ongoing support, you can return to the service as needed.
This is guided, non-clinical support designed to help you build practical tools, confidence and resilience in everyday life.
Coaching Program vs Mental Health Assist
You have access to both services at no extra cost, giving you two pathways to choose from.

Stressed or burnt out
Emotionally overwhelmed
Struggling with balance
Mentally stretched but not in crisis
Choose Mental Health Assist if you:
Want to discuss mental health symptoms
Need help reviewing or understanding a diagnosis
Would benefit from guidance on treatment options
Mental Health Assist provides access to a psychologist or psychiatrist within 10 days, along with a detailed report and follow-up check-ins.
Both services sit under 360Health’s Mental Wellness offering and are available to eligible members and their families* aged 18 and over.
Mental wellbeing and financial wellbeing are connected
We know mental strain doesn’t exist in isolation.
Research shows that responsibilities, support systems and financial health all influence mental wellbeing. Economic uncertainty, rising living costs and workplace pressures can compound stress and mental strain which can, in turn, affect career progression and earning capacity.
At GuildSuper, we believe superannuation is about more than retirement savings. It’s about helping you build a secure future — and that includes supporting your wellbeing along the way.
Looking after your mental health today can support your ability to work and plan for the future.
